It's Menendez's actions that throw the United States and China into a chaotic war. It's a story about these characters," Lamia explains to me later. We see a man go from good soldier to bitter terrorist, and his story is as important to the entire plot of Black Ops 2 as any other character we meet. Players will see the breaking point for Menendez in the 1980s to better understand his motivations for terror in the future. Goyer, who helped co-develop the story for The Dark Knight, Treyarch has decided to shine a more detailed light on its villain. The story arc spans the Mason family and Woods, and plot out the rise and fall of Menendez. The two periods are entwined with the return of Woods and a new villain, Raul Menendez. In Black Ops 2 players will play as former protagonist Alex Mason in the 1980s, and as his son, David Mason, in 2025. Technology and the reasons for battle change, but the objective remains the same: win at all costs. The idea, Lamia admits, is to show some parity between both periods and allow players to get a better glimpse into the characters involved. Rather than lead off from the previous game, Black Ops 2 will feature two distinct time periods: the 1980s vintage Cold War, and a grounded future in which the United States and China are embroiled in a new Cold War. Frank Woods, is alive and well in the sequel. "This is a direct sequel to Black Ops," Lamia says, adding that one of the central characters from the previous installment, Sgt. But this isn't Halo or Battlefield 2142 – this is a future that isn't as far off as we may think, and it's not the period of time gamers will be visiting when the game launches this November. %Gallery-154450%As implied by the early marketing, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 thrusts the franchise into the near future. "Saying that," Lamia continues, "we think what Black Ops 2 is about is one of the best kept secrets in the industry." The walls around the screen are lined with concept art, some of it modeled after surveillance photos from in-orbit satellites, but all with a futuristic tint to them. "Let me introduce you to the worst kept secret in the game industry," Lamia says as he walks in front of a giant screen embellished with the sleek Black Ops 2 logo. Despite a tightly constructed marketing schedule, the secret of Black Ops 2 was hard to contain its existence began to leak in January. He's chipper, excited to finally talk about the game his team has been slaving over for more than a year. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is in the same spot, but developer Treyarch is looking to create some wiggle room between the two camps in its next contribution to Activision's billion dollar franchise.Īt Treyarch's office in Los Angeles, company boss Mark Lamia steps into a darkened theater filled with journalists. Garnering legions of fans tends to wedge a franchise right between those that crave more of the same content, and those that loathe its existence.

Too many musicians will repeat a passage many times with mistakes, play it correctly once, and then speed up the tempo. Play the section perfectly at least 3 times in a row.If it is missing any one of these elements, it isn't perfect. This means that the note is played with a good tone, in tune, at the right dynamic, with the correct articulation, and in the right rhythm. Find a tempo where you can play every single note perfectly. If you play at a speed where you mistakes, then you are just practicing mistakes. This should be no more than 20 measures of music. Find the problem area you want to practice. Here is a sample process for how to practice with a metronome: Yes, it is important to run through the entire piece to make sure you have the endurance, but when you are fixing problems you should only practice a few measures at a time. Tips For Practicing With The Online Metronome.Ī general rule is to practice small sections of music. Once you can repeatedly perform the section perfectly, you can begin to speed up the tempo and bring the good habits with you. Slowing the tempo down will make the passage easier and allow you to focus on playing with perfect technique. It is a smart practice habit to take a small section of music that you're struggling with and slow it down. A metronome will help you hear the speed at which a piece should be played.Ī metronome will also help establish a more disciplined practice. To hear it correctly, you need to know how fast (or slow) the melody is played. In order to practice it, you need to be able to hear it in your mind. Imagine that you are looking at a piece that you have never heard before. Musicians use metronomes to find the tempo of a piece of music and to bring structure to practice sessions. You can adjust the number of beats per measure using the "beat emphasis." This is an easy way to practice music with time signatures that aren't 4/4. This metronome will automatically emphasize every 4th beat as if there were four beats per measure. You can change the metronome's subdivision to quarter notes, eighth notes, triplets, or sixteenth notes by clicking on the respective note icon. Practicing with subdivisions is important for developing a sense of timing and precision. Using this, you can create a steady pulse from tempos of 20 bpm all the way to 200 bpm. Using the minus, or moving the slider to the left, will make the tempo slower. Using the plus, or moving the slider to the right, will make the metronome tempo faster. You can use the plus/minus signs or the slider to adjust the tempo. This might be written as a tempo marking like Allegro or in beats-per-minute, like quarter = 120. To use this free metronome, start by finding the tempo of the piece you want to play. Metronomes are useful tools for practicing with a steady tempo.

And while we’re admittedly guilty of not sending RSVP’s on time (which is bad, I know), it’s mostly due to the fact that we just forgot to mail them. I mean, how many times have you accidentally missed the RSVP date only to receive the dreaded text from the bride or groom with the “Umm, are you coming to our wedding?” question. Here’s What You Should Know by Jen Goldenberg It spiked in popularity again a few years ago-largely thanks to the revival of fashion and makeuptrends, sparked by GLOW, and a resurgence of ’80s makeup backstage at fashion week-but it’s mostly since faded into the background.Shop Contour Brushes: Nose, Angled & Blending Brushes at Morphe UK Essentially, it’s all about using blush as a way to sculpt and shape your face and enhance your unique structure. Contour blush, also known as blush draping, is an old-school technique popularized by Cher’s makeup artist Way Bandy in the ’70s, although he called it “color glow” at the time. Months ago I had all but abandoned my makeup brush and was researching buccal fat removal-it’s a no for me-when I was reminded of blush contouring while listening to Blondie. But each time I’m left with either no visible change, or a muddy stripe of product down each side of my face. Thanks to the prevalence of “Instagram Face” and a snide comment from an ex about how round my face is, every time I apply makeup, I use a cocoa-colored powder to attempt to carve out hollow cheekbones I’ll never have. I’ve spent nearly a decade trying to figure out how to contour.
